Additional Education Resources
Kew Bridge Steam Museum is a member of the West London Museums Group, and as such, has access to the use of the following resources. Please note however, that these resources are only available at the museum at certain times of the year, as their use is shared with other member organisations, and therefore you will only be able to book their use in the periods mentioned with each resource. They are useful methods of enhancing the visit according to the core subject of your visit. If you prefer to use these resources, the museum's own in-house activities will not be on offer, as these resources are more complex and need more time.

Victorian Costumes:
These can be used to enhance the Water, Victorians and the Industrial Revolution programme. There are two costumes available: a gentleman's and a lady's. Please note that because of their sizing the costumes will only fit certain children. The costumes can be used to discuss the Victorian social structure and how it affected the water supply industry, the typical owners of companies and how the wealthier classes were better provided with domestic water than the poorer classes, we can also discuss the campaigners who worked to ensure all of London's inhabitants were entitled to decent water. To use this resource, the museum requires that at least two adults of both genders supervise the participating children at all times.

Material Mayhem:
This is a science-based activity aimed at Key Stage 2. Through a fun game children can learn about natural materials, how to group many everyday objects according to their material properties, and find out what some manmade materials are originally made of. Later classes can be divided into smaller groups and explore the museum to see how many different materials they can find and work out what the museum's engines are made of.
