2005 has been a busy year at the Kew Bridge Steam Museum - in between scooping the Bronze Award for Best Small Visitor Attraction of the Year in the Visit London Awards, we have also been finishing the restoration of our unique Bull engine, the only one of it's type in the world which will ever be able to run under steam, as well as developing a new website, allowing a far richer depth of content, plus more up to the minute news of events at the museum.
This website has been months in the planning and implementation stages - we are now using a far more dynamic framework for the website which will allow us to update the site and add more content with far greater ease. You will see a large number of editions to what has already been published in the next few weeks and months.
The new site includes a revamped Special Events secion, which has been designed to make it easier to see what is happening at the museum and when. We will be making far more use of this feature than was possible with the old website, so make sure you keep an eye on the site's calender and front page, both of which will tell you of upcoming events and exhibitions at the museum.
The new Online Shop not only allows new and existing members of the Kew Bridge Engines Trust to join or renew their Trust membership online, but also will feature a large selection of the books and souvenirs regularly stocked in the museum's bookshop. Members of the museum trust also receive a 10% discount on selected products within our shop.
The revamped Volunteering section now not only gives information about joining the museum as a volunteer, but also will feature "volunteer job spots" - specific volunteer jobs which need to be carried out at the museum. If you are thinking of getting involved with volunteering, this is the best place to start.
The information available to members of the museum trust has also been expanded on the new website - a Members Only section will provide exclusive content, from a downloadable Kew News archive, to advance information about special events and private views at the museum.
As with all websites, the Kew Bridge Steam Museum site is still evolving. More content and features will be added in the coming weeks and months. If you have any comments, or any problems using the new website, please get in touch by emailing
