For the first time this half-term and for two exclusive nights only, Kew Bridge Steam Museum are hosting ghostly ‘Candlelight Tours’. Journey with us on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 October amidst the shadows of the bowels of the museum to hear authentic ghost stories. The tour will focus on reported sightings of ghosts in the hidden recesses of the museum, as well as the death of George Banfield in the Maudslay engine house in 1860.

Museum legend has it that ghostly figures have been seen around the museum, including a man in a flat cap and white overall walking across the Steam Hall whistling, a young man with long hair who appeared and then just vanished, and another sighting of a man in a flat cap and donkey jacket in the old workshop, humming.

Lesley Bossine, Museum Director said: “On the tours we will try to see if we can sense any presences or indeed debunk the myths around the alleged ghosts. This is the first time we are doing this tour, so we getting prepared to expect the unexpected!”

Join us for an intriguing candlelit tour, escorted by an experienced tour guide, which will include some behind the scenes areas normally not open to the public. If the weather permits there will also be a brief chance to see inside the tower.

Charges for the candlelit tours include a glass of wine for adults, to steel any unsteady nerves and juice for younger visitors. Children must be accompanied by an adult and aged 8 and above. Tours start at 6.30pm and last about an hour with time for drinks and shopping afterwards - flat shoes are recommended and booking is essential.
