A range of festive fun awaits visitors to Kew Bridge Steam Museum this Christmas. Bored with the usual Christmas cards? - then come and make your own  to take away! The museum shop is also a great source of festive gift ideas, stocked with a range of model making kits for young children, steam models for adults, Meccano, a broad range of books, CDs, limited edition mugs... in fact almost everything for the bookworm or steam enthusiast in your life!
 
Special Steaming Weekend Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 December 2006 and 1 January 2007, 11am to 5pm:
For a one-off Christmas holiday special, the museum's mighty Cornish beam engines will be working, as well as the rotative steam hall engines, throughout the New Year weekend. The Tower will be also open for tours, if the weather permits. Children will be kept entertained by a model railway and other activities.
 
Also on during the Christmas holiday:
  • A 'what am I?’ childrens scavenger hunt around the museum running every day we are open, from Wednesday 20 December to Tuesday 2 January. Earn as you learn, with prizes awarded to those who complete the whole hunt.  
  • ‘City: Country: Environment’, art exhibition, until December 17, by Antonio Dias Ribeiro, presenting a selection of artworks in glass, clay and mosaic-based techniques, using a wide range of materials, most of them linked to cityscape and environmental aspects, as well as a few pieces inspired by Omani subjects.
  • Under 5s jigsaw engine puzzle - kids can have a go at putting two puzzles
    together, one of which they can make work!
  • Visitor operated model of the Boulton & Watt engine
  • Water For Life Gallery
  • Giant beam and rotative engines in steam at the weekends
  • Museum café and shop
  • Education facilities and group visits

Christmas 2006 and New Year 2007 Opening and Closing Times:
When the lights are turned off at 5pm Friday 22 December the museum is then closed for the Christmas break and for crucial maintenance works to be completed. The museum will re-open at 11am, Wednesday 27 December 2006.
