The weekend of October 7th & 8th sees the return of the ever-popular Steam Models Show at the Kew Bridge Steam Museum, which features a variety of steam models, models to make and buy, as well as competitions with prizes for children.
A great family day out, this years show will include steam models of all shapes and sizes including boats, traction engines and railway locomotives. The show will offer visitors, in particular families, an enjoyable experience with exhibits both old and new on display, inside and outside the museum, working throughout the weekend.
Coinciding with both Family Learning Week and The Big Draw, the museum is also offering visitors a chance to get involved and win prizes, just come down and show us your masterpieces, pens and paper will be provided. The Big Draw, the campaign's annual October showpiece, proves that drawing can be a public activity as well as a private passion. 1,000s of venues across the UK will be joining in to offer people of all ages the chance to discover that drawing is enjoyable, liberating and at everyone's fingertips. Visitors, both new and experienced, wishing to further their interest in steam modelling can indulge their hobby or interest further and be able to discuss tricks of the trade with resident experts. They will be a variety of stalls supplying the modeller with all the necessary materials for purchase, including a wide range of models, kits, drawings, photographs, specialist books and magazines and other steam related merchandise. This year will see a new buggy challenge open to schools, technology clubs and model engineering club members.
