Survey Reveals Women Have Sex On The Brain Print

Results of a survey*, released today (12 January 2007), reveal that more women than men have sex on the brain. The survey, which asked respondents to name the use of a variety of everyday domestic gadgets showed that nearly twice as many women as men, believed that items such as an aqua vibro massager, electrical stimulator and blood circulator, were sex toys. The items are in fact gadgets from the early 20th century, due to go on display in a new exhibition, and designed as medical treatments.

The statistics are revealed on the day the Kew Bridge Steam Museum opens it's new exhibition, Design For Living – domestic delights and other curiosities, which runs through to 15 April 2007.

“We are genuinely shocked!” said museum Director, Lesley Bossine: “We were trying to identify who, out of men and women, could best guess the true identity of various medical objects. The sex toy option was more of a wild card, but it appears to provided very interesting results.”

The exhibition, which includes the massager, stimulator and circulator, contains an eclectic mix of labour saving devices and beautifully luxurious objects for the well to do home, such as a 1901 phonograph. Fascinating and humorous, this bizarre exhibition of ingenious domestic gadgets will intrigue and amuse and is a testament to our desire for an easier life! This
amazing collection of visually intriguing gadgets designed to make life easier in days gone by, also includes:
  • 1935 'spy' camera
  • 1853 3D viewer
  • Victorian step commode
  • Lawn shoes worn by a horse
  • 1935 washing machine - that also claimed to make ice cream and sausages

*The survey was carried out via the Kew Bridge Steam Museums’ website, from 1 December 2006 – 10 January 2007, with respondents using tick boxes
