Now in its nineteenth year, the ever popular Festival of Model Tramways, rolls into the Kew Bridge Steam Museum over the weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July. Featuring the highest quality model tramway displays, with lay outs from across the UK and as far a field as Germany and Austria, this is a truly international show. Come and witness model trams of all sizes, as they run through miniature streetscapes.
This fascinating show features over twenty working models, several of which are new to the festival including the Wootton Tramway, a one fifth size tramway, offering free rides to passengers around the museum grounds. There are also three London layouts, based on the tracks of Croydon, Charlton and Kingsway subway, as well as some small enough to be stored in a matchbox!
Visitors, both new and experienced, can indulge their hobby or interest further, with a variety of stalls supplying the modeller with all the necessary materials, kits, drawings, photographs and books for model tram building. A fun day out for all the family there will also be a 'best tram in show' competition, with a trophy given to the winner - there is no entry fee, just bring along your models.
