The ever-popular Live Steam Model Railway Show once again chuffs into the Kew Bridge Steam Museum on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November 2009, opening at 11am with last entry at 4pm both days. (show closes at 5 pm)

One of the main highlights of the museum’s calendar, the show is guaranteed to entertain railway enthusiasts and families alike with a variety of model railway trains puffing away under their own steam.  The show offers visitors a thundering good time, with four model railway layouts, all of which have real steam engines, running throughout the weekend. It promises a great day out with something for all ages.

This year’s railway layouts include:

  • Kew Bridge exhibited by The London Area Group of the 16MM Association
  • Ridgmont exhibited by the Bedfordshire 16mm Group
  • The Lentil Soup Works Railway exhibited by Mike Goodwin
  • The popular ride-on railway exhibited by the Ickenham & District Society of Model Engineers

Visitors can also enjoy a ride on the museum’s new resident steam locomotive, Thomas Wicksteed, a narrow gauge steam Wren class locomotive, offering free rides around the museum grounds. Resident experts will also be on hand to discuss tricks of the trade with those both new and experienced in railway steam modelling, to help indulge their hobby or interest further.

There will be a variety of stalls supplying the modeller with all the necessary materials for purchase, including a wide range of models, kits, drawings, photographs, specialist books and magazines and other steam related merchandise. As well as the layouts, the show will have many of the country's leading railway preservation societies represented and a host of trade exhibitors selling everything you need for a model railway.

The museum is delighted to announce that all of this can be enjoyed for a special admission price of £6.00 for adults and £5.00 for concessions, with the usual FREE entry offer for accompanied children under the age of 16.
