Live Steam Model Railways return this November

Looking for somewhere to satisfy that railway modelling interest but don’t fancy travelling to Warley? Then why not visit the annual Live Steam Model Railway Show, which steams into Kew Bridge Steam Museum on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st November, opening at 11am with last entry at 4pm both days.

One of the highlights of the Museum’s calendar, the show is guaranteed to entertain railway enthusiasts with a variety of live steam model railway trains puffing away, offering visitors a thundering good time, on four model railway layouts which will be running throughout the weekend.

This year’s railway layouts include:

  • "Kew Bridge 2", the brand new layout from The London Area Group of the 16mm Association
  • "Prayle Grove" from Carole Grundon & Graham East
  • "Lower Chaldron" exhibited by Julian Smith from the East Surrey Group of the 16mm Association
  • "Hampton End" exhibited by Dale Gillard
  • "Smithies Yard" a Gn15 layout exhibited by the ‘Gnorfolkers’ and Ralph Brammer

Visitors can also enjoy a ride on the Museum’s new resident steam locomotive, Thomas Wicksteed, a narrow gauge steam Wren class locomotive, offering free rides around the museum grounds.

There will be a variety of stalls supplying the modeller with all the necessary materials for their hobby, including a wide range of models, kits, drawings, photographs, specialist books and magazines and other steam related merchandise.
