Waterworks at War - 8th & 9th October

Created on Friday, 23 December 2011 18:36

IMGP0722Kew Bridge Steam Museum will be turning back the clock to the 1940s once more for its annual Waterworks at War weekend on October 8th and 9th, when the museum will be hosting demonstrations and presentations as part of its living-history event focussing on life on the home front during the second world war.

Visitors will need to watch out for Viv the Spiv and be careful if they buy anything from him, as they may be arrested by Steve the copper!  Musical entertainment will be provided by The Three Belles on Saturday 8th ; and visitors can learn to jive and lindyhop with the Cinque Port Lindyhoppers on Sunday 9th.

There will also be chances to be ‘evacuated’ by the museum’s own steam railway (the only one in London) and to see one of the museum’s original steam pumping engines operating under black-out conditions.

Visitors who turn up in appropriate 1940’s attire will receive a £2 discount on the museum entrance (applies to adults and concessions only), but no Axis uniforms please.
