Education & Multi Use Space

For many years our Economiser House has suffered from the rain and 'flat concrete roof syndrome' meaning that we have not been able to use it effectively. As part of our HLF bid we want to refurbish the roof, restore the windows and equip the room so that it can be used for primary and secondary school education work, as a small lecture and meeting room and as a community use space for revenue generation, summer time use for children's parties and family activity days.

Inside we hope to display a small restored 'Economiser' engine and 'scraper gear' to reflect the buildings former waterworks use as part of the steam raising boiler plant. To shield people from inclement weather, we want to add a 'high tensile' fabric canopy between it and the exit and stairs from the 90" Engine Corridor.
