Splashzone - Fun Filled Childrens Activities

Splashzone! An exciting new discovery area for children and adults, where you can have fun moving and using water in a variety of ways. Visitors tell us that there should be more things for children to do especially in the summer and we hope that this will be one answer.

The Splashzone exhibits will be spead across three types and areas. The first will be a range of 'low level' interactives which use a a safe supply of piped water and a moving stream to drive various simple outcomes. Aimed at the very youngest audiences, they will run around the existing base of the Museums 'Hindley' Waterwheel which itself will operate more often.

A new range of improved smaller 'tank' type interactives will be built, developed from the popular test ones the Museum has had in operation for the last few years. These will use a variety of hand pumps to make things happen in imaginative ways.

Finally a new specially commissioned exhibit will be built, which maximises moving water by hand to create a range of amazing outcomes, by a variety of means. Gears, wheels, buckets, hand cranks, levers, pumps, tubes, pipes and valves all rolled into one fun activity station designed for all ages. Which also includes educational elements which can be built into the Museum's expanding range of school and educational deliverables.
