Cafe open at weekends
Opening hours are from 11.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.
Hot meals served between 12.30 p.m.  and 2.30 p.m.

Or bring a picnic to enjoy in our Upper Garden where you can look out for wildlife, wild flowers and wild objects!

Free car park
The museum car park has space for 50 cars.

There is one dedicated parking space for orange or blue badge holders. However visitors with these badges may reserve a space in advance by contacting the museum and giving their name, car registration and date of visit.

Information for wheelchair users
Approximately 85% of the museum is accessible to wheelchair users via ramped flooring or a lift.

There is level access from the car park to the museum shop and reception area.

Access to the Boulton & Watt, Maudslay & Bull engines is via ramp or rising platform lift

Access to the 90 inch engine is via stair-climbing lift and temporary ramp.

Access to the railway and waterwheel is via ramp or risiing platform lift.

Access to the Babcock cafe is via ramp or rising platform lift.

There is a wheelchair accessible toilet adjacent to the museum car park, which requires a Radar key which is held at the museum reception.

Two manual wheelchairs are available for loan to visitors, during their visit. These can be pre-booked by contacting the museum, giving your name and date of visit.

Information for visually impaired visitors
A large print brief guide to the museum is available, priced 50 pence. Guide dogs are welcome throughout the museum.

Pre-booked touch tours can be arranged but require two weeks notice to ensure one of our specially trained volunteers is available.
